Just the help I needed - I’ve been trying to pack less and use less ice for awhile. This cookbook gave me plenty of ideas and info. Like a heat diffuser for the burner….a great addition. Powdered hummus is a nice addition. I’m glad I got this book

I’m planning the menu and gathering the food for a 25 day Grand Canyon trip for 16 people that will be done in wooden dories. We won’t have coolers and our space for food and gear is limited. This little gem of a book has a lot of good ideas for recipes and portion sizes.

Lacey’s non-cooler menu is amazing. Not only is it light-weight, but it is nutritious, healthy, and calorie-conscious. It offers plenty of variety; leaves you satisfied but not stuffed; and provides full meals including appetizers, main course and dessert every night. The meals are creative and diverse, and rely on not just freeze-dried foods, but also plenty of whole foods, baked items, prepared foods, and a mixture of cans and fresh foods that last without refrigeration. She incorporates numerous techniques for chilling items using cool river water, such as wrapping cheese in wet towel, and setting up a delicious dessert by floating it in the water! But the most amazing thing of all is her ability to judge quantities so that there is enough for everyone but little waste… We all could learn a lot from her example...

Latest great recipe is Bliss Balls!

Since I am a newbie to your cookbooks and this was the second, I thought maybe I had missed something in the first. I shared the Bliss Balls on a three-day Labor Day camping/canoe trip. They were eaten up. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

I had the privilege of going on a no-cooler trip on the Rogue with the author. Lacey did all the meal planning and shopping. The food was very tasty, nutritious, filling, and imaginative. And best of all, our little sport cats handled like a dream without all that weight!! Even if you don’t go no-cooler, this book is definitely worth having for it’s imaginative recipes. Those who complain about the prep time are probably not “foodies”. If you cook with love, the flavor comes through!!

Lacey elegantly provisioned the trip with recipes from her new “Camp Cooking without Coolers” recipe book and each meal was an outstanding and delicious success!

The food was really good. That lunch we had on Sunday was perfection. You’ve got a good thing going.

Thanks again, I’ve enjoyed the book I purchased about a year ago.

We were delighted when we discovered the delicious looking menu for our Middle Fork Salmon boat trip… The entire weeks supply of meals was efficiently prepared and neatly wrapped. By removing the superfluous grocery packaging and wrapping each meals different contents together in on compact bundle made each one easy to carry and quick to prepare for our hungry group of ten Middle Fork Salmon rafters. Toppin it off, easy-to-read directions were included for preparing every meal. Our thanks to Lacey for all her help in making our trip such a huge success!

If you don’t know about Lacey then now is the time. She is awesome in the meal department … It can not get any easier and meals are nourishing, filling, and good. I spent a week on the Middle Fork Salmon last summer… I can say that every one of the 10 people on the trip raved about Lacey’s meals.

I've been looking for a river oriented cookbook as an alternative to oatmeal and cup-a-noodles when I want to raft without a cooler. This is the only one I've found and it is great. The recipes are easy to follow and the results are SO tasty! I even cook some of these meals at home. The information on Leave No Trace camping is right on and should be shared with others. I can't wait for volume III to come out!
