If you love the classic camping dessert of S’mores and are following the “no cooler, no campfire” philosophy” (or it is a 80-degree evening – no campfire desired) these Rice Krispie Treats are the perfect solution! Gooey marshmallows, crunchy graham crackers, and melty chocolate come together in a no-bake dessert that’s just as satisfying as the fireside original. If there are any leftovers, set them out in the morning—these treats pair perfectly with a cup of coffee!

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 bag (10.5-ounce) miniature marshmallows
  • ¼ cup margarine, plus 1 tablespoon for greasing the pan
  • 1 ½ cups (4 ounces) graham cracker pieces
  • 1 ¼ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Pan: Grease an 11×7-inch baking dish (or another suitable camping pan) with 1 tablespoon of margarine to prevent sticking. Set aside.
  2. Melt the Marshmallow Mixture: In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt ¼ cup of margarine. Add the marshmallows, stirring constantly until fully melted and smooth.
  3. Mix in the Dry Ingredients: Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately fold in the Rice Krispies cereal and graham cracker pieces. Stir quickly to coat everything evenly.
  4. Add Chocolate Chips: Gently stir in 1 cup of chocolate chips, being careful not to overmix—you want most of the chips to keep their shape rather than melt completely.
  5. Press into the Pan: Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup of chocolate chips on top. Press down firmly to compact and flatten the treats.
  6. Cool & Serve: Let the treats cool for about 30 minutes. Once set, cut into squares and enjoy!
